OUR STORY

Small Business Growth Continues in Remington with Addition of Raunjiba on 29th St.

Local Black-Owned Design firm opens Innovative “Raunjiba Design Center” for artists, designers, builders, and creatives to take ideas from concept to reality

Scott Tucker and Melani Dowdy Tucker, the duo behind the new Raunjiba Design Center (RDC) on 29th St. in Remington have called Brooklyn, the UK, and Washington D.C. home - but it’s Baltimore where they’re launching their unique new concept: a collaborative space where artists, fabricators, and creatives of all stripes can come together to bring ideas to reality. The 10,000-square-foot space will feature a boutique of Melani’s Mellibelli designs where shoppers can purchase her one-of-a-kind upcycled, vintage clothing and jewelry.

Tucker, the artist, designer, fabricator, and builder behind Raunjiba, has had a 25-year career working with brands like NIKE, LVMH, and Evian France. In addition, his personal artwork is represented by the Bishop Gallery in New York City. The Bishop Gallery will have an exhibition space in the new Raunjiba Design Center and plans to bring high-profile works and collections through the space on a rotating basis.

“We are very excited to open the RDC and share our experience with the community. Our goal is to provide turn-key, hands-on creative support to Baltimore artists, makers and DIY’ers,” said Scott Tucker, Raunjiba’s founder.

On Friday August 27th 2021, RDC opened its doors to the arts community at large at their space at 527 W. 29th St. in Remington.

The Raunjiba Design Center is a one-stop shop for artists and community members alike to bring ideas to life. Whether working on a rowhome renovation and looking for custom-built shelving or furniture elements or a small business looking to prototype and bring to market new product offerings, the Raunjiba team will have offerings to bring concepts to life. They will offer: design consulting, wood and metal fabrication, CNC precision routing, laser engraving, 3D printing, and a white space A/V stage with chromakey backdrops for AR & VR content creation.
